Whins Farm
Whins Farm is a rare and exciting opportunity to rent and manage a Farm Business Tenancy, commencing September 2026. Nestled at the foot of the Howgill Fells, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Dales National Park, Whins Farm is a traditional upland hill farm in one of the country’s most picturesque landscapes.
Addington Fund became aware of the existence of Whins Farm when they were left a gift of money in the Will of the late Mary Blades. Mary stated in her Will that she wished her farm to be sold to a “keen and enthusiastic young farmer” and Addington stepped in when no suitable buyer could be found.
Whins Farm is still undergoing refurbishment and is being renovated by the charity to create a starter-farm which will be let to a new entrant as a stepping stone into the industry.
Watch the film below to hear the story of Whins and our plans for its future.
The Future of Whins Farm

The farmhouse, barns, and yard are in the process of being repaired, but still require significant investment.
We are actively working closely with a local architect and builder to carefully restore the buildings, ensuring they are ready for the next generation of farmers.
Once the renovations are complete, the tenancy will be offered to a new entrant as an exciting first step into farming. Full details of the how to apply for the tenancy are available on GSC Grays website.
