The Cornwall Farm Business Awards are Back!
The Cornwall Farm Business Awards were stopped in their tracks back in March last year because of the pandemic hitting the UK by storm, but now restrictions have been lifted and we are able to fundraise once again, we are really excited to host this year’s awards on Thursday 30th September at The Royal Cornwall Showground.
After such a challenging 18 months, celebrating agriculture is now more important than ever, to recognise the hard work and determination of individuals demonstrated during the lockdown. Farming did not stop or slow down and farmers were not furloughed during lockdown, they worked tirelessly to keep food on the shop shelves and on the nation’s plates as the foundation of our food supply chain, and for that they must be recognised and rewarded.
The Cornwall Farm Business Awards are organised by the team at the Addington Fund, the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association and our new Principal Sponsor, Cornish Mutual, to support British farming and highlight the passion and hard work of those who keep agriculture alive.
These Awards would simply not be complete without the continuous support from all our sponsors and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their understanding throughout the pandemic, a truly difficult time for all, especially the charity sector.
Our 2021 category sponsors are:
Carter Jonas & AMC for sponsoring Best Commercial Farmer
Handelsbanken for sponsoring Best Woman in Agriculture
PKF Francis Clark for sponsoring Best Mixed Farmer
Savills for sponsoring Best Farm Processor
Saputo Dairy UK for sponsoring Best Dairy Farmer
NatWest for sponsoring Best Young Farmer
NFU for sponsoring Farming Champion
Stephens Scown for sponsoring Cornwall’s Farmer of the Year 2021
We are absolutely delighted to welcome on board our new Principal Sponsor for their very first Cornwall Farm Business Awards, Cornish Mutual.
Peter Beaumont, Managing Director for South West insurer, Cornish Mutual said: “Cornish Mutual has insured farms and rural businesses across the South West since 1903. As a mutual insurer we are owned by our members and making a positive difference in the communities in which we live and work is central to our ethos.”
“Being embedded in the rural community for more than a century means we have supported farmers through bad times, as well as good. We have also worked with many farmers who have responded to challenges by establishing innovative new business ventures. The Addington Fund is a fantastic charity that steps in to help farmers when they face real hardship. We have supported the charity in a number of ways over many years and are proud to be Principal Sponsor for the Cornwall Farm Business Awards 2021.”
It is our upmost priority to continue fundraising for the charity now that restrictions have been lifted and for the safety of our guests, we have taken as many measures as possible to be Covid-safe. We have reduced table numbers and the amount of people per table, we are providing sanitisation facilities, increasing ventilation in the chosen venue and holding at a warmer time of year, which will all help reduce risks.
This year, celebrating our 20 year anniversary, the Addington Fund has done a huge amount of work helping rural communities providing retirement homes and disaster relief, and given the current uncertainty and rapid changes we are facing, our role is going to be even more crucial in future. This is the perfect time to support us, so we are in a position to help our farmers when they need. If you would like to support our cause, please donate via www.addingtonfund.org.uk/donate .
